The Festival at Sandpoint’s Fine Arts Poster tradition dates back to the start of the organization in 1983. What started as advertisement and fundraising for the Festival at Sandpoint has now become a way to showcase some of the community’s many talented artists to celebrate and publicize their work.
The Poster Artist is selected via an open competition held annually. Submissions are judged by how well the art embodied the spirit of the Festival community in a creative or innovative way.
Once unveiled in July, a signed print of the poster goes on sale to the public. The original artwork is bid on throughout the Summer Concert Series until the winning bid is announced at the Grand Finale. All proceeds go to the Festival and its nonprofit mission.
The Festival keeps an archive of every poster created. Prints of all posters can be purchased at the office for $15.

2024 Fine Arts Poster Artist
DANIEL GILL
Daniel Gill, a Sandpoint designer and illustrator, was selected as the Festival at Sandpoint’s 2024 Fine Arts Poster Artist.
Gill studied graphic design at Southern Utah University and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010. Since then, he has worked primarily as a graphic designer specializing in brand development, visual identity, and creative storytelling.
He enjoys making art in any form, and his mediums vary from traditional drawing and painting to digital illustration to photography and video.
“My love of drawing and painting goes back to boyhood,” Gill said. “While I now spend more time with a mouse and keyboard, a pencil and brush will always be my first love.”
Gill’s winning piece, “Scotchman Sunset,” was inspired by his experience hiking Scotchman Peak this past summer.
“Anyone who has made the climb will recognize the mountain goats that call the area home and seem fairly unbothered by the passersby,” Gill said. “I hope that anyone who sees the piece will find it to be a tribute to the natural beauty of the region and the summer days that make one want to relax and enjoy the view.”
In regards to the style of the Fine Arts Poster, Gill was inspired by classic travel posters.
“As an artist, it's always tempting to try something complicated and painstakingly detailed, but for this piece, I thought I should try a simple approach that would need little explanation,” Gill said. “I wanted to see what kind of an image I could get working with just simple shapes and flat colors.”
Daniel Gill has donated the original piece to be auctioned, with 50% of the proceeds supporting the Festival’s non-profit mission, and 50% supporting, the Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness, another local non-profit.
The auction for this year’s artwork began last night and will conclude at the Grand Finale performance on August 4. Bids supporting the auction can be placed at the Festival’s office through July 24. Beginning July 25, the original art will be available for bidding at the merchandise booth during each performance.
This year’s poster and all past posters will be available for purchase at the Festival at Sandpoint’s office for $15. Poster prints, t-shirts, and other 2024 merchandise will also be available to purchase at the merchandise booth during the Summer Series.

2024 Series Lineup Poster Artist & SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
MAGDALENA IDZIKOWSKA
In addition to the 2024 Fine Arts Poster winner, Magdalena Idzikowska, a college student pursuing a degree in Graphic and Web Design from North Idaho College, was selected as the 2024 Series Lineup Poster Artist and scholarship winner.
Idzikowska is originally from Poland, and her passion for travel inspires both her art and her life.
From studying at Liverpool Hope University in England to now attending North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, she has worked to merge her creative side with her love for exploration.
“As someone who deeply appreciates nature, I was inspired to create my poster titled ‘A Mountain Goat's Melodic Journey,’ Idzikowska said. “Upon learning about the presence of mountain goats around Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint, I felt compelled to showcase their beauty and significance through my artwork.”
You can find more of Idzikowska’s art on Instagram or her online portfolio at wilddesigndev.com.
