The contest is open to all ages, mediums, and skill levels. Applicants under the age of 18 years old must have parental/guardian consent.
The 2025 Poster Contest is now open. Applications and completed art pieces must be submitted to the Festival at Sandpoint either digitally or in person by 5 PM PST on Monday, February 3, 2025.

The art piece must follow ratio and size guidelines.
2D mediums must meet a minimum size requirement of 18” x 24” (W x H) and a maximum size requirement of 24” x 32” (W x H), and the completed piece must have an aspect ratio of 3:4 (W:H)
Any other medium must be made with consideration of being made into an 18"W x 24" H poster.
Submissions must weigh less than 40 pounds and be transportable.
The artist must use inspiration from the Festival at Sandpoint, music, and/or the Sandpoint region, and the art piece must embody the spirit of the Festival community in a creative or innovative way.
The art piece must not include anything that is or could be perceived as graphic, offensive, violent, or insensitive.
All entries must be original creations in both concept and execution. Submissions depicting copyrighted designs, characters, or trademarked names, likenesses, or logos will not be accepted.
The use of artificial intelligence is prohibited.
All applicants must submit a completed art piece and 2025 Poster Contest Application to the Festival at Sandpoint either digitally or in person by 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time on Monday, February 3, 2025.
A high-resolution image, between 2000 and 5000 pixels, of the artwork or the original artwork is required with application submission.
Original artwork can be brought to the Festival at Sandpoint office located at 525 Pine Street, Sandpoint, ID, during business hours.
Submitting Original Artwork provides the judges with more detail into the artists' skillset and may result in scoring higher than only photographs of final pieces.
Original artwork must be picked up from the office by March 3, 2025. Contestants unable to pick up submissions by this deadline should notify the Festival at the time of entry. The Festival at Sandpoint will not be responsible for storing or returning original artwork.

Contestants are limited to one entry per year.
Contestants may submit artwork that they submitted to past Festival Poster Contests, so long as the piece has not already won.
Submissions from previously selected poster artists will only be accepted if the artist’s most recent year of winning took place five or more years prior.
For example, the selected artists from 2019 and all years prior are eligible to enter.

All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges in the following areas:
Overall Appearance
Neatness
Compositional elements: color, balance, contrast, proportion, symmetry, etc.
Demonstrates artistic technique and skill
Thematic Content
Does it take inspiration from the Festival at Sandpoint, music, and/or the Sandpoint region?
Does it embody the spirit of the community, region, and/or Festival at Sandpoint?
Creativity
Does it present the subject or theme in an original or unique way?
Is the concept or presentation creative or unique?
Reproduction & Marketability
Would someone want to purchase and display the original piece or a print?
Does the piece have mass appeal and lend itself to being reproduced on shirts, prints, etc.?

All reproduction and usage rights of the winning entry will be granted to the Festival at Sandpoint.
The Festival at Sandpoint may publicly reveal the identity of the winning artist and display photographs of them and their artwork for promotional purposes.
The winner may be asked to participate in promotional activities associated with the competition and/or poster unveiling event.
The winner’s original artwork will be donated to the Festival at Sandpoint, and all proceeds from the auction of the original artwork will go toward the nonprofit organization.
The Festival at Sandpoint reserves the right to take additional photographs of the original artwork.
