Festival at Sandpoint Announces 2023 Festival Street Food Vendors

The Festival at Sandpoint has released its lineup of 11 food and drink vendors for its 2023 Summer Performance Series from July 27 to August 6.

From delectable desserts to creative quesadillas and Greek cuisine, Festival Street has some of the best local food options for concert-goers to choose from.

Returning vendors include Burger Dock, The Cajun Kettle, Evans Brothers Coffee, Felker’s Northern Smoke BBQ, OPA!, and You Say Potato.

Along with these delicious options, Festival Street welcomes Sandpoint-favorite newcomers: Beet and Basil, Good ‘Dilla, Jupiter Jane Traveling Cafe, Local Yokel, and Sweet Treats.

Festival at Sandpoint Announces 2023 Scholarship Winners

The Festival at Sandpoint has granted over $6,000 in five local high school and college students scholarships for accomplishments in music, writing, and art.

Violinist Hannah Adams was selected as the winner of the $2,500 2023 Festival at Sandpoint Instrumental Scholarship.

Festival at Sandpoint Instrumental Scholarship 2023 runner-up Evan Schwenk also received an award of $1,500.

Arie VanDenBerg was the recipient of the $1,000 2023 Charley Packard Memorial Songwriting Scholarship with his original song “We Ain’t Done” performed on guitar.

Festival at Sandpoint Completes First Year of New Pre-K Outreach Program

Since its launch in spring 2022, over 70 students at Selkirk School and Little Lambs Preschool have participated in the Festival’s Pre-K Outreach Program. Students learn to play six different non-pitched percussion instruments, count and read rhythms, and play parts within a group.

This free series of classes is designed to engage students through rhythm, movement, and song, culminating with a live performance.

The curriculum is tailored each year to work with existing music requirements in the local schools and introduce students to a myriad of instruments and new genres of music.

Festival at Sandpoint Releases Economic Impact Study

It’s been over ten years since the Festival at Sandpoint has sponsored an economic impact study. Last fall, the University of Idaho assessed the economic contributions of the 2021 - 2022 Festival at Sandpoint (FAS) fiscal year and Summer Concert Series and its impact on Bonner County.

In addition to enhancing the cultural, educational, and recreational environment of Sandpoint, FAS is an important contributor to the regional economy.

The study evaluated the Festival at Sandpoint’s economic impact on two levels: direct and indirect impact. Direct economic impact includes job creation, payroll, gross regional product, and sales that directly result from the Festival.

Festival at Sandpoint Announces 2023 Poster Contest Winners

Tammy Zinke was selected as Festival at Sandpoint’s 2023 Poster Artist Contest Winner.

The Festival at Sandpoint was overwhelmed by the number of submissions they received in the first year of the contest. Submissions were evaluated on multiple criteria: originality, creativity, execution, quality, demonstrated skill, and how well the art embodied the spirit of the Festival community in a creative or innovative way.

It was extremely difficult for the Festival to select just one winner. As a result, two winners were announced: one Fine Arts poster and one Series Lineup Poster.

Festival at Sandpoint Offers New Music Industry Scholarship

The Festival at Sandpoint is offering a new scholarship this year for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the music industry outside of live performance.

This scholarship is open to all Bonner County high school students pursuing a future career in the music industry, which includes, but is not limited to, music business, artist management, concert or venue promotion, e-commerce, music customer service, sound & light design and operation, and production management.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s overall interest in pursuing a music business career as well as the student's financial need, academic records, and industry experience.

Festival at Sandpoint Welcomes Two New Staff

The Festival at Sandpoint is excited to welcome Veronica Knowlton and Tess Howell to the full-time staff in 2023.

“We are thrilled to welcome both Veronica and Tess to the Festival team. After such a successful 2022 season, we are excited to be in a financial position to have a full workforce again after years,” Executive Director Allison Baranski said.

Veronica and Tess both bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization that will only better the Festival by fulfilling our mission and serving our community. We cannot wait to see the improvements, innovation, and thoughtfulness that they will add to the organization.
