Festival at Sandpoint Reveals 2023 Fine Arts Poster
Festival at Sandpoint Reveals Its 2023 Poster Art Created by Artist Tammy Zinke.
While the Festival at Sandpoint’s Fine Arts Poster tradition dates back to the organization's start in 1983, this was the first year that the organization altered the selection process. Last fall, the selection process was converted to an open competition and began accepting submissions for its first Fine Arts Poster Contest.
Zinke’s winning piece, “Harmonies in Nature,” was inspired by William Shakespeare’s quote, “The Earth has music for those who listen.”

Festival at Sandpoint Completes First Year of New Pre-K Outreach Program
Since its launch in spring 2022, over 70 students at Selkirk School and Little Lambs Preschool have participated in the Festival’s Pre-K Outreach Program. Students learn to play six different non-pitched percussion instruments, count and read rhythms, and play parts within a group.
This free series of classes is designed to engage students through rhythm, movement, and song, culminating with a live performance.
The curriculum is tailored each year to work with existing music requirements in the local schools and introduce students to a myriad of instruments and new genres of music.
Festival at Sandpoint Releases Economic Impact Study
It’s been over ten years since the Festival at Sandpoint has sponsored an economic impact study. Last fall, the University of Idaho assessed the economic contributions of the 2021 - 2022 Festival at Sandpoint (FAS) fiscal year and Summer Concert Series and its impact on Bonner County.
In addition to enhancing the cultural, educational, and recreational environment of Sandpoint, FAS is an important contributor to the regional economy.
The study evaluated the Festival at Sandpoint’s economic impact on two levels: direct and indirect impact. Direct economic impact includes job creation, payroll, gross regional product, and sales that directly result from the Festival.
Festival at Sandpoint Announces 2023 Poster Contest Winners
Tammy Zinke was selected as Festival at Sandpoint’s 2023 Poster Artist Contest Winner.
The Festival at Sandpoint was overwhelmed by the number of submissions they received in the first year of the contest. Submissions were evaluated on multiple criteria: originality, creativity, execution, quality, demonstrated skill, and how well the art embodied the spirit of the Festival community in a creative or innovative way.
It was extremely difficult for the Festival to select just one winner. As a result, two winners were announced: one Fine Arts poster and one Series Lineup Poster.
Festival at Sandpoint Offers New Music Industry Scholarship
The Festival at Sandpoint is offering a new scholarship this year for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the music industry outside of live performance.
This scholarship is open to all Bonner County high school students pursuing a future career in the music industry, which includes, but is not limited to, music business, artist management, concert or venue promotion, e-commerce, music customer service, sound & light design and operation, and production management.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s overall interest in pursuing a music business career as well as the student's financial need, academic records, and industry experience.
